What do you use HTH chlorine granulate for?

HTH Chlorine granulate is the ideal product for it "shock" your pool water. This may be necessary, for example, in very hot weather, with cloudy water after a thunderstorm or, for example, if your swimming pool water is green due to algae formation. The chlorine granules are a chlorine treatment against bacteria, viruses, fungicide and algae in public and private swimming pools.

HTH Chlorine granules it is best alternative to liquid chlorine if you want to dose the pool chlorine by hand. Manually liquid chlorine after all, adding is extremely risky.

How do you use the HTH chlorine granules

At the start of the swimming season or against green swimming pool water, approximately 150 grams of HTH chlorine granulate per 10 m³ of water after adjustment of the pH between 7.0 and 7.2.

First dissolve the HTH granules in 10 liters of fresh water and immediately pour into the swimming pool or into the skimmer. But make sure that no other chemical products or organic chlorine are present.

If the water is cloudy, use a flocculant such as Flovil or Flocfix, very suitable for making the swimming pool water completely clear again. You can also repeat the chlorine shock if 1x was not enough to make the green water clear again.

Dosage of HTH chlorine granulate in public swimming pools

When using a chemical tank and dosing pump, dissolve 1 to 1.5 kg of HTH granulate per 100 liters of water. The daily dosage is between 0.5 and 1 kg for 100 m³ and depends on the occupancy of the pool or exposure to sunlight and contamination from slides, rapids, .

Is the HTH chlorine granules suitable for slow dosing?

HTH Chlorine granules are suitable for shock dosing, but not as suitable as slow-acting chlorine. It is therefore better to use chlorine for a slow, long-lasting effect of the swimming pool chlorine tablets 200g or the HTH sticks 300g.

The advantage of NOT stabilized HTH chlorine granulate

In the case of chlorine without a stabilizer, the advantage that you avoid the risk about stabilization and blocking of the action of your chlorine. With common (cheaper) chlorine, cyanuric acid stabilizer is added to the chlorine tablet. This is useful to prevent the chlorine from being broken down by the sun.

The disadvantage of this stabilizer is that it remains present in the pool water. After a few swimming seasons and with little water change, this stabilizer accumulates. At a concentration higher than 70ppm stabilizer, the effect of the chlorine is blocked. This ensures that bacteria and algae are no longer properly destroyed. This creates green swimming pool water.
