But the performance of the new inverter heat pump for your swimming pool is nothing short of impressive. In the meantime, 2 years have passed and after installing a few dozen heat pumps, we can only conclude that this pool heating has become the standard for swimming pools.

Strongest inverter heat pump?

There are 2 disadvantages to an “ordinary” swimming pool heat pump:

• NOISY – the fan produces quite a lot of noise, which is quite annoying if the heat pump is placed near a terrace or close to the neighbors
• RELATIVELY HIGH CONSUMPTION – you will still have to count on an electrical consumption of around 1200 – 1500 € per year for a swimming pool of 9 x 4 x 1.5 that is covered

Sole solar collectors are a simple and even more economical alternative for heating the swimming pool. After all, for every kW you put into the appliance you get 3 – 6 kW back (depending on the environmental conditions). We also see an increasing choice for heat pumps in residential heating.

The heat pumps extract the energy from the air and transfer this energy in the form of heat to the swimming pool water via a compressor with coolant and a heat exchanger. A very efficient pool heating and a lot cheaper than heating with gas or heating oil.

Rapid evolution

The increasingly expensive heating oil, gas and electricity price ensured that more and more people choose the most energy efficient solutions to heat the swimming pool. The increasing competition also ensured that manufacturers rapidly improved their heat pumps. For example, we soon saw the use of titanium heat exchangers instead of stainless steel heat exchangers, smart start heat pumps, patented impellers that produce less noise, the inverter technology and now also smart operation via WiFi or an app.

This latest inverter technology with a compressor and an impeller that can rotate at different speeds, ensures a strong evolution in much better efficiency and lower noise level.

The inverter swimming pool heat pump that has stood out the most with us has to be the Dura PRO from Duratech. Duratech has been producing heat pumps for 10 years. The engineering takes place in Belgium, production partly in Asia. The Dura PRO is extremely efficient (COP up to 13.6), is very quiet (<46dB), works from -15°C!! and has a large touchscreen control. In addition, there will be the Duralink ready device (operated via APP).

A 2nd device that caught our eye is the Vesuvio FULL inverter heat pump. A private label developed by the LMP group, the swimming pool wholesaler with the longest track record and extensive experience with swimming pool technology and swimming pool service. The Vesuvio gives its power based on the needs of the pool heating. The compressor is a FULL INVERTER and the noise is < 20dB at 10m.

What is the efficiency of an inverter heat pump?

It efficiency of an inverter heat pump is heating at least 70% higher than an ON/OFF heat pump and even 50% higher than a standard inverter. In concrete terms, the heat pump succeeds in optimal conditions in generating 16kW of heat when you consume 1kW.

How does an inverter heat pump work?

A FULL inverter pump contains the most advanced technology to ensure that the heating always functions optimally. By adjusting the speed in function of the environmental conditions (temperature of the water, temperature of the air, humidity), you can achieve COP values of up to 16.5 with a FULLINVERTER. Because this fine adjustment is possible, this pool heating will almost never work on 100% and thus drastically reduce the noise level and consumption. For example, an ordinary inverter works with different speeds in "steps", a FULL INVERTER works frequency by frequency and can therefore run all possible speeds.
