Aquachek 4 in 1 test strips for swimming pool water analysis.
With the Aquachek test strips 4 in 1 Cyanuric acid you can analyze the swimming pool water with just 1 simple dip. Good control of your swimming pool water ensures clear and pure swimming pool water. You can do 4 analyzes with each test strip:
- Free chlorine
- pH – preferably a value between pH 7.2 & 7.4
- Total alkalinity
- Cyanuric acid (stabilizer)
What are ideal test values for swimming pool water?
- For free chlorine, the value is best between 0.5 and 2PPM
- The acidity of the swimming pool water is best pH 7.2 to 7.4
- Total alkalinity is the buffering capacity of the swimming pool water
- Cyanuric acid (stabiliser – present in 200g chlorine tablets) preferably lower than 70ppm
How does alkalinity affect swimming pool water?
The higher the alkalinity, the higher the buffering capacity, the less the pH value will be affected by eg rain or the addition of chlorine - but also the more difficult it will be to influence the pH value with pH plus or pH minus powder. The lower the alkalinity, the more easily the pH value can be influenced by rain, chlorine, pH minus and pH plus
What if the cyanuric acid concentration is too high?
The amount of it cyanuric acid stabilizer can be measured up to 300mg/l (ppm). If the concentration is higher than 70ppm, your swimming pool is “OVER STABILIZED” and it is best to switch to the chlorine products of the HTH brand. These chlorine products are NOT stabilized and the chlorine present in the product is therefore always ACTIVE available. This in contrast to the common 200g tablets.
Just good
classic product. works fine.
I specially bought these test strips to measure the cyanic acid content (stabilizator) because I use MTF 5 in 1 tablets. Apparently it contains quite a bit of cyanuric acid. That's why I wanted to measure it.
Strips work perfectly, the cyanuric acid of the tablets certainly remains low enough!
Handy that the strips in the box are packed in a number of separate bags, they will of course remain usable for longer.
first sticks that measure cyanuric acid, perfect ! Then pool got blue again!
Have now switched to a digital PH meter because these strips are insufficiently accurate in case of (starting) problems to accurately measure and tackle the problem. Slightly more expensive to purchase, but measuring is knowing and the basis for swimming clear water.
Dear Caroline,
thank you for your feedback. This is indeed correct. You can most accurately measure the pH value of your swimming pool water with a Pocket pH meter.
You can measure the chlorine with test strips, but these are more indicative. An indicative value is acceptable for the chlorine. the pH value really has to be accurate to the decimal point. They are not super accurate.
